DVP-NS718H Child lock problem

I went to take out a disk from my player after turning it on and it said "Tray Locked", I understand this is a child lock but it seems to have activated itself and I can't find my instructions.

So can anyone help?

on the remote, press return, enter, then on.

that should unlock it.

I've done this as you said, but nothing happened. Unless i've read it wrong, do I keep the player off? Do I have to hold any of the buttons?

press the buttons in the sequence given with the player in standby mode,sorry i was not clear, i'll give you the link to the PDF manual, save it in bookmarks for future reference. page 8 under settings and adjustments.

how odd!, ok if you followed insructions theres only a couple of things left to try and at this point i'm fishing, unplug the machine and leave a little while, put some fresh batteries in the remote, (the old ones might be tired), plug it back in and try again, to be honest the tray lock/unlock should work with the instructions given.
