Failure to Launch - Reader Library on Computer

Clicking on my Reader Library icon gives no result.  I have downloaded the latest Software from the Sony site and installed it (after deleting Adobe Reader 9; complaints about Adobe digital elements).  No improvement. The software is there, the Shortcut points to it, etc but no response.   If this is a software problem what is sony doing about it?   My Sony computer runs everything else very well.  Why can't it run Sony applications?
