I am trying to resolve an issue: When I turn on my camera, I get a display saying "UUSB Mode Conntecting..."
The camera is not connect to anything.
After a few seconds the message "Switch on [MENU]" appears underneath.
When going to menu, all that is available is the USB menu. This is not useful, as I want to stop thie message and start taking photos.
Looking for solutions leads me to believe that performing a factory reset might allow me to resolve this, but there is no "reset" button on the camera, and the USB menu is all I can access.
I have tried removing the battery and card for periods between 20 mins and 10 hours, but this does nothing.
Sony suggests, on various boards, removing the backup "button" battery, but this is inaccessible.
Does anybody have an answer, or has my camera become a doorstop?
Thanks all,
David
Hi David, welcome to the Sony Forums
You can only initialise the camera via the Menu, which is obviously not available to you. However it sounds as if there is some kind of internal fault which won't be resolved via the usual reset routines.
One thought: the camera should only defualt to USB connectivity is there's a cable attatched. Have you tried inspecting the multi connector on the base of the camera to see if there's any foreign object, dirt, etc in there?
It may be worth checking it in for a repair, either via Sony's repair service or at a high street camera shop; there's always a chance it's a simple fix.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Mick
Hi Mick, and thanks for the response.
I acquired the camera from my daughter, who has just moved to the other side of the world. Manuals, etc., I have downloaded, but I had no USB lead. One arrived in the post this morning and after plugging it in the camera began working properly, continuing to do so after I removed the lead.
It does sound likely that something was in there and causing the problem.
So far, so good.
Thanks again,
David
That's interesting David, I'll be sure to pass that on if we see a similar problem in future.
Glad it worked out for you
Mick
