How Do I Get Cybershot Camera Screen Fixed

DSC-HX200V Camera. Bought 28-1-2013

I need to send this camera for repair. Im not that great with computers & am struggling to work this site out. It has took me 2 hours to get to where i am now.

Can someone please tell me where, or how, i can get this fixed. It was only bought last week, we are a community group in Belfast, & it is needed for projects that we do. It was noticed after charging that the screen was damaged.

PC World in Sprucefield, Lisburn, where it was bought told me to phone Sony & they would arrange to have it picked up by a currier.

Sony then informed me on the phone that i needed to go onto the computer & arrange for it to be sent.

This brings me to where i am now.

Is it a case of getting an address, which is what?, & posting it?

There is nothing else is wrong with the camera.

Please Help.

John

Hello John - Welcome to the Sony Forums

As far as I am aware, the standard procedure with Sony is to get in touch using the details on this page:

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/repair

If you type the name of the camera into the box where it says 'You have another Sony product', you will see a box that allows you to start the registration process. The direct link for the HX200V is:

https://ibiss.crse.com/sparrow/servlet/SupportSiteDispatchServlet?site=odw_en_GB&modelId=DSC-HX200V&...

This link may not work directly, which will meant that you need to use the procedure described above.

Having said all of this, I have taken a look at the PC World customer support page and it could be argued that your purchase falls within their 21 day returns policy for faulty goods. If the damage is something that you believe is a result of a manufacturing issue, a camera purchased on the 28th January would be inside of this time window. The page on the PC World website is located here:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/returns-cancellations-878-theme.html#instore_returns

This text clearly states that within this 21 day period, PC World will offer you a repair service or if this not possible, a replacement or refund. I cannot cut and paste the text into this forum message at the moment, but you may wish to print out this page and return to the store. Obviously, I cannot guarantee that this will be successful but I am only using my interpretation of PC World's rules here. You may need to make your case strongly in store, and I cannot see any exceptions to their policy for Northern Ireland.

Thanks,

Simon
