DSC RX100

I have a brand new RX100 (out of the box).  I took two images and tried to import via Picassa.  Picassa does not 'see' the camera.  The camera is plugged in, turned on (green light on) the small window in Windows opens asking me what action to take....I choose Picassa, go to import and there is nothing there.  Any ideas anyone?

Hello milesRight - Welcome to the Sony Forums :slight_smile:

I have tried using Picasa for this purpose before, but I imagine that it may be an issue directly with the software itself. When you attach the camera to your computer via USB, do you see the camera appear as a separate drive in Computer/My Computer?

Having said this, I usually advise people to pick up a basic USB memory card reader as these can be found for £2-£3 these days. They attach directly to a computer, and they effectively eliminate all of these issues in one attempt. Windows/Mac OS will recognise the memory card as its own drive, and you can access the files directly.

Thanks,

Simon

Thanks Simon.

I have just connected the camera again, this is what I get;

Two folders open: one is 'removeable disc E'.  This is the normal one that usually opens for my other camera and shows the DCIM folder.  The other folder that opens is 'G' showing the following-'info', 'licence', 'for Mac' and 'PMHome.exe'.  This last one is the PlayMemories home Installer.  Should 'G' and all it contains be there on the camera at all?

As these two folders open 'Play Memories' opens on the pc to access the camera.

hope this hepl you answer my query.  Thanks,  David

Hello again :slight_smile:

If you fully install the PlayMemories software that was provided with this camera, are you able to import the images using that instead of Picasa? If this works successfully, at least you will know that the issue is linked to Picasa and not any other drivers or software.

Thanks,

Simon

Yes the Playmemories works ok and now it seems picassa reads them but makes them a funny colour!

Talking of a 'funny colour' my videos have a 'grey line across the bottom and across horizontal parts of the images in the video.  I can view ok if I use VLC media player.  Also looks ok when viewed 'on camera', any ideas please?

Thanks
