Suddenly unable to control TiVo with XG9505 remote
Until 2 or 3 days ago, I used to be able to control my TiVo box using the XG9505 remote. All I had to do was press the 'TV' button and choose the 'Home (Menu)' to control my TiVO via the TV remote.
I reset the TV and tried rescanning several times, but to no avail. When I do the scan test, it does not recognise the remote to control the TiVo.
Is anyone seeing this and if not, can someone please assist?
Thanks

Hi,
Can you please check if HDMI control and BRAVIA sync are enabled in the TiVo Box respective the TV?
Cheers

Hi, thanks for the reply.
TV does not recognise TiVo part of the Bravia Sync, also did not have to do it last time around.
Unable to find a Bravia sync on TiVo.
Never-the-less, I do not think that is the issue. I tried to do the rescan again, and unable to complete the test. I do the automatic scan and despite that, the scan does work when I press 'test' - as it does not do the Ch+ when I press the Test button.
Thanks

The setting is called Bravia Sync on the TV since it is part of Sony's Bravia TV line up, the TiVo box will have a different name for it.
Although, I don't know that name myself, the general name of the feature is CEC (short for Consumer Electronics Control) or HDMI/ARC control.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for getting back to me. For whatever reason the Bravia sync does not find the TiVo on the list, see attached image. The TIVo is on HDMI 1 and it is missing. I’ve rebooted the box, re-set the cables, but all to no avail. I’ve tried to re-do the config test - I can see the image but the TV does not find the right ‘code’ to sync so the test fails.
thanks.

I'm inclined to think that the TiVo box is at fault here since everything else shows up normally, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's faulty. Most likely the feature was disabled or something like that.

TiVo boxes are famously bad at CEC.
The mystery to me here is not why the XG9505 remote stopped controlling the TiVo, but how it was ever able to control it in the first place,
My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

It worked perfectly fine for months. I was able to control the TiVo with the Sony remote with no issue, including accessing all the menus and channels. Then it just stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Who knows what happened...
I have another TiVo box in the house so I am going to swap it out and test that.

So, I restarted my tv and tivo box - powered both down from the mains, tried again and it worked once I did the scan. All is well now!
Thanks to all those who tired to help!
