I installed the app "Video and TV sideview: Remote" and the physical remote control just didn't work any more except the voice control button. I have tried a lot of ways to reset my tv to factory setting. However, it just didn't accept any functions from my physical remote control. I checked the remote control is sending out signal to the tele. Right now, I can only use my keyboard to control the tele. Anyone has any solutions?
My TV model is KD-55XF9005
Thanks,
Edward
Hi @edwarden, welcome to the community.
Could you give us a little more info on the reset attempts you have made?
Thanks
Mick
Same doubt... it is not feasible to accomplish a factory reset without a working remote ...
What about this?

@royabrown2 of course you can force the reset, but than you have to go through all the settings without having a remote... I'm not sure it is what he did...
Hi @rooobb
No, I’m not sure what he did either.
I think he put an app on his phone (or maybe he put an app on the TV); which, @edwardcn ? If a phone, what sort? Where did this app come from? What is it supposed to achieve for you?
And then, presumably, used the app from the phone, acting as a remote to the TV; and it has taken over from the normal remote, which no longer works with the TV.
Or something like that.
So maybe go onto this app, and ask it to let go of the TV, restore the operation of the normal remote?
But I am assuming that unless this app has reprogrammed the Sony remote (which is very unlikely, I would have thought) that a Factory Reset will put the TV back to where it would be if it was newly delivered today with the latest Android software on it, all the standard apps and so on, and get rid of any added apps or non-standard settings, so the Sony remote would work again to complete the recovery after the Factory Reset.
Though perhaps I am wrong....
@edwardcn did say his keyboard still works with the TV. Perhaps this can be used to rescue it?
@royabrown2 what makes me crazy is that we don't have any problem and we have to guess which is his own problem to help him out...
Hi Edwardcn,
If you carried out a remote control camera test and the remote control sends IR signal then it's something to do with the TV. To know if it's the actual IR receiver on the TV or not, just press on any button and check if the LED flashes or not. If it doesn't flash then this TV needs to be repaired. Let us know how it went.
Cheers,
Rose
I used a USB keyboard attached to the TV to input.
I have tried it already, no luck. 3 times factory reset.
