I have a 1TB external hard drive formatted for FAT32. When I plug it into my Sony Bravia tv it sees usable space as 0.92TB but will not record (I get a message which says I can’t record in You View).
I tried to format it through the tv, then the usable space is only 252GB and I still cannot record & get the same error message.
Tried resetting the hard drive twice.Same thing happens.
How I can fix this so I can record & get all the space I paid for?!
You can not record to USB when YouView is enabled. I think this has cropped up before in the past. This should help you turn it off. The TV will format the drive to a unique file system such that if you wish to use it on a PC at some later date then you will probably have to use the PC's disk management console to delete and recreate the volume.
From another thread of mine:
The removed drive is not recognised when connected back to a Windows PC for reuse. You have to go into the 'Disk Management Console' where you will see the drive but it will be showing (or rather not showing) a valid file format such as NTFS or FAT32. You need to delete the volume and then recreate a new 'simple volume' picking either NTFS (recommended for a traditional drive) or FAT32 as the format type. So your drive is still 100% OK, it just needs reformatting back to something Windows (or OS) can recognise.
