One outstanding difficulty with my 2 day old KD-48A9.
I cannot mirror my Dell XPS laptop to the TV.
Lan is connected, TV wifi is on also Direct WiFi.
The Dell connects to the TV WiFi. When I attept to connect to a wireless display it fails.
The TV screen indicates that is trying to register the Dell but it eventually says failed.
The TV firmware is uptodate as is the Dell.
The TV Wifi is dtermined to be a Private network and I believe that there is no firewall interference.
Casting from phone is fine as I suspect is Chromecast but it is the Laptop screen that I seek.
Any ideas please?
Wi-Fi direct and screen mirroring aren't one and the same. The first is meant to directly play files remotely using WiFi (displaying a picture or a video or playing an audio file. Screen mirroring isn't all that great when it comes to the quality and I believe that's one of the reasons Sony started removing the feature from newer TVs.
Nothing beats a good HDMI connection for a laptop. Just plug and play.

Thanks for the response.
Yes direct cable connection works but not as quick or convenient when you wish to use the big screen quickly & briefly.
A cheap dongle worked fine with old TV and does with this one. Just another gadget and cable attached and the use of the spare HDMI socket. I was trying to avoid that.
