Liveview on laptop

How can I get live view to show on my Sony Viao, I can get it on my Bravia TV no problem but I don't seem to get it on my latop. Anyone any ideas on how to do it?

Live view will only work on a computer if the camera is capable of direct streaming. The majority of camcorders are not able to function as a webcam on a computer, but if you let me know your camera model number I will try and find out for you.

I assume you have a NEX or SLT with a HDMI output.

If you want to have just a low resolution (VGA) live image displayed on your laptop there is quite a nice and affordable solution possible:

check the following review of a HDMI to AV converter. Using a simple USB AV grabber you can display and import the AV out on any PC/Laptop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogd4y9TFaGQ

If you want to display directly via HDMI you need something like Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle.
