USB-C to HDMI does not work

I bought a Type-c to HDMI adapter like this

but it does not work on xperia 1.

And I am considering to buy a dongle.Has anyone tried a dongle like this?

This is a topic in this forum where this issue has already been addressed. Please note that you will not be able to watch Netflix or Amazon Prime (and possibly other paid subscription services) over such a working HDMI connection, due to copyright protection.
