Where to find: Video driver updates?

Hi, I am a Vaio VGN-Fz21M user that is desperately looking for a driver update for my notebook.

The FZ21M has a nvidia Geforce 8400M GT inside. I cannot find video card driver update on nvidia or vaio site.. can anyone help?

Hi De Slisser and welcome.

Sony do not release any driver updates unless a problem is identified with the driver you have installed. You are always advised to stay with a driver that has been tested by Sony.

At your own risk you can update to a later nVidia driver but be very careful because of the known problem of a number of nVidia chips that have failed if they are allowed to overheat.

I think the latest version that supports the 8400M GT and will install itself is nVIDIA ForceWare X 176.37 for Windows Vista : -

There are also more recent drivers available on that site but they will not install without modifying the installation information file (.INF). Have a look at the Frequent Questions section in the right hand column of that site and read the Quickstart Guide.
