VAIO MEMORY UPGRADE HELP

I AM TRYING TO UPGRADE THE MEMORY ON A VAIO A215Z NOTEBOOK FROM A 256MB TO A 512MB
EVERYTIME I REPLACE THE MEMORY WITH A 512MB THE LAPTOP RUNS FINE AFTER 5 MINUTES EVERYTHING SWITCHES OFF FOR A SECOND THE COMPUTER THEN SWITCHES BACK ON WITH ONLY A BLACK SCREEN (NO DISPLAY)
IF I REPLACE THE THE MEMORY WITH THE ORIGINAL THE LAPTOP RUNS FINE

THE REPLACEMENT MODULE IS THE CORRECT ONE (PC2700S DDR 333MHZ)

CAN ANY ONE PLEASE HELP!

as a technician i come across alot of people doing this
make sure your original chip has the same speed and number
e.g you say your replacement is ddr 333mhz
make sure your original one is also ddr333mhz
making sure your new one is 200 pin most vaios use samsung memory chips
