streaming off the net keeps jumping

help.... ive got the vgn 417m series and i have had it for 4 years, each time i watch something on you tube or i player, the live stream keeps jumping. ive tried to adjust the ms config and upgraded the ram to 2gig but it still keeps happening. is my video card to blame or is it something else!!!!

What do you mean by jumping?

Do you mean the picture freezes while the buffer loads and then it plays for a while until it freeze again?

If so your internet connection is not fast enough to stream the live video at the resolution set.

If it is different, give us more information and someone may be able to help.

in the UK, bbc iplayer in notorious for this!
It is mainly bandwith issues...be it uploading from BBC or download speed as Blencogo stated

Having said that, Sony default install caused me a lot of issues with client PCs whereby the junk was taking so much of the resources up, there was not enough to handle a streaming video too - cpu was constantly high etc

I would try and see how much you have free in terms of RAM and CPU too...also try another browser if you have not already done so

If you're on wireless, try wired (usually faster/cleaner)
