Do not disturb doesn't work for starred contacts

Do not disturb with allow priority is supposed to allow calls and texts of starred/favorite contacts to still ring and vibrate. This feature was working in the previous version but no longer works on Android 6.0.1 on my Z2 with the Feb 1, 2016 patch.

I have been looking into this for you @HennyT,

If you swipe down the quick settings menu (Swipe down from the top of the screen twice) there is an option for "Do Not Disturb". If it is not there, press the pencil icon to edit your quick settings and drag it down.

Using the quick setting you can choose between "Silent", "Alarms only" and "Priority only".

Hi @HennyT,

Welcome to the community.

The feature is now called Do not disturb, though it should behave in a similar way to priority mode.

Can you please make sure that you have the rule set up to allow starred contacts? To do this, please go to Settings > Sound & notification > Do not disturb > Priority only allows > Calls > From starred contacts only.

The setup I have is as below and when this person texts/calls it doesn't buzz or ring.

What am I doing wrong?

Might I also add that the "call a second time within 15 minute" function also is not working. The person called me twice in two minutes and still silent.

Thank you!

@HennyT,

Looks like it's set up correctly. Can you please test the phone in safe mode and see if the issue persists?

Unfortunately the issue persists in safe mode as well.

@HennyT,

Try un-favourite the contacts, close the contacts app (or preferably restart the phone), then re-favourite them. In case DnD isn't recognising they are favourites.

That was actually one of the things I did prior to posting here, but I did what you asked again and it still didn't work. Slightly_frowning_Face
Any other suggestions?
Is my phone the only one exhibiting this behavior?

@HennyT,

I'm not sure if you're the only one with this issue, but I personally have not come accross it before. If you set it to "Contacts only" instead of starred contacts, does it work?

Still doesn't work...
It happened on my phone before in Android 5, one of the updates fixed it then I update to Android 6 and it stops working again.

I tried allowing "anyone" to disrupt the dnd mode but it's still silent
