I tried several charging methods on XZ Premium, and it seriously lacks compatibility compared to other phones.
1. Car USB port
My car has a typical USB type A port, and it can read MP3 files or charge phones.
When I connect XZ Premium to the port, charging starts, and right after that it shows Android charging selection pop-up, (Just charging, MTP, PTP, ...) and Xperia software install message, then it disappears and stops charging right away, and it goes back to the first step and repeats endlessly.
2. Some PC and laptop USB port
It just doesn't charge. Battery level doesn't go up, even goes down (quicker than normal standby) on some laptop. Maybe related to some corporate USB security software.
3. Typical legacy charger from an older phone
It charges, but the vibration (notifying charge start) runs two times. Maybe some connection error.
I assume that XZ Premium can't skillfully judge and deal with USB data/charging connection to target devices. A software update is needed to charge my XZ Premium without unnecessary clutter and worry.
