Im done with sony because od 3.5mm phone jack

Sony was first promoter of HiRes audio concept, right? On every box there was such a logo, until xperia X. I was a Sony user since Z. I bought a few hundreds of Hires tracks, and best Sony earphones ($300).

Now, Hz2, Xz3 and HZ4 dont have phones jack anymore. What is reason for that? Iphone chasing? Why for a God sake you put back 3.5mm, like Samsung, LG and so on. You expect me to beleive you that micro USB-c adapter or bluetooth has better Hires handling than Samsung S9 (32/384KHz capability)? Naah. And S9 forks flawlesly with my expensive sony earphones.

I was dissapointed when I saw that XZ4 also wont have 3.5mm. You need that jack space badly? How Samsung and LG manage with it, making even smaller phones?

Sony, dont be Apple, listen to your own words from a few years back. Because, I will not ever buy phone without phones jack. And people around me, I know that for sure.

Thanks,

Mira, belgrade.

You're right.

Sony’s Xperia XZ3, XZ2 and XZ2 Compact smartphones no longer feature headphone jacks, like many other recent Android devices.
You might consider buying a dongle like this one from Amazon.

Actually, yes.

The usb c port for audio on Android is using USB audio class 3.0 and supports up to  32-bit/384kHz .

However, in most cases this is pointless as the codec chips used don't allow for that much bandwidth anyway.

For example, the exynos based S9 uses Cirrus Logic CS47L93 and whilst the Exynos 9 series is touted as capable of 32/384, that figure is limited by audio codec chips used, similar to it's 4k 120fps ability being limited by its camera codecs.

The same can also be said of snapdragon 845 indeed, with its 32/384 ability being limited by whatever manufacturers use as their codec.

But all that is irrelevant, as to answer the main question, yes the audio from usb c, is the same quality as through a 3.5mm jack.
