I've always felt there was something "off" with my phone but I wrote it off as glitches that came with Oreo. The touch was working poorly and a lot of times I could be typing a message, email, forum post etc, and then suddenly the keyboard would just disappear and the app would crash without crash report. Also the memory management didn't work as expected. When trying to flip through open apps kept in ram I had to tap it up to four times before it opened, if at all. I never have more than four apps open at once.
So a few weeks ago it became too much, the touch almost stopped working and I couldn't browse through open apps at all. It became impossible to type anything because the keyboard kept shutting down and made the webpages jump from top to bottom randomly. I tried Xperia keyboard, Swift and Gboard. I did a factory reset through my phone - did nothing. Connected it to my PC and started a repair through Xperia Companion.
Got an error message saying it couldn't complete the repair and that I should start again. But now my phone was on a loop saying I had no OS and never got by the boot logo. I tried the repair again, only this time Xperia Companion tells me my phone is locked and that I need to follow instructions on the mobile screen (!)
After eight hours of Google and YouTube I managed to do a repair that followed through, but my keyboard still behaves the same, memory is a bit better, touch is the same, and I've got a new problem. Sometimes when I turn off the screen, I also turn my phone into a soft brick. I have to do a volume-power button reset to turn it back on.
Is it over between us? 😔
