I have an xz2 for less than a month and I recently recorded some 4k videos and in almost all of them there is a moment where the recording stalls and freezes and resumes.... It comes out looking like a still image while sound is still recording and then will resume movement that matches the sound. I have tried it with and without HDR and same problem. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a problem with all phones or just the one I happened to get?

seems that sony does not care about such basic functions. i saw this jitter already when gsmarena postet their video review samples of xz2c and xz2 and thought that they maybe had preproduction software but this is unacceptable for a new phone with final software. it lags and skips frames while recording with such a powerful soc in it. my z3c did not had any issues and it was also capable of recording 4k with the sdm801

Is not only 4k issue, 1080 60fps also drops, and one time it make my camera App crash after 50 sec of rec... Its disaster. Im also using dji osmo mobile App and Its recording better and more smooth (also in 4k) but still that laging is... No comment.

If they not fix this with update, it will be my last sony phone.

Well, ofcourse not... this 60fps mode looks more like 40!

I'm giving sony 30 days to fix this issue, then i am sending this phone back. If they give me another lab sample from their beta testers that has this issue, i will ask my money back.

Its realy dramatic, I just watched my records from vacation, all got that issues, no matter what res is recorded. If they not fix this it in update (and when will be update sony?) It will be my last sony phone, no matter what they will say in future, can be 8k hdr 3d panoramic... I will not buyed becouse in real using is a big shame.

An update on the topic, just received the may patch and after 5 recorded videos of 4-5 minutes each, I saw in 2 of them at around 1 minute a little glitch of 1/4 second and didn't bother me at all

As far as i know, May update was only secure stuff, nothing else mate, so it has nothing to do with it. Go outside try to record al least 30min differend modes and then You will see, start with 4k mode, hdr on / off.

Thats great for you that you now have a 0.25 second stutter every minute of recording.

Imagine going to the cinema to watch a much hyped movie. Once the opening is over, you notice a stutter every 15~35 second. It does not last long, but it is noticeable. After 5 minutes you think... mmm jeez, this is getting annoying...

after 2 hours, you drive back home, severely irritated and give the movie a 1 star rating due to this technical glitch.

Not a problem at all, eh?
