I've just updated my Xperia Z2 Tablet to 4.4.4 this morning. And do I need to reset the tablet, erase data, or reset factory?
You didn't have the 1080p choice anymore in the apps only 720p
anyone in Canada got it yet? SGP511 here and still no sign 2 days after release.
This update introduced too many problems and no visible improvement:
- the numer of rows of icons on the home screen was reduced
- auto sleep not working
- magnetic cover is not triggering sleep anymore

What you mean by auto sleep? My screen is going black after 2 minutes as I set in settings. Intelligent backlight is working too.
I also see improvments in touch response. It seems to be fine now.
Icons are a matter of taste. Many people complain about them but if you have icons in folders it looks quite good.
Now that you asked, I restarted the tablet and sleep is working fine.
Yesterday the screen stayed on for about 6 hours. No app preventing the auto-sleep function was running.
Icons - yes, it's a matter of taste. I choose Android over iOS because it is flexible, I can adjust it to my needs. In 4.0.4 I had the option of choosing the layout of the screen - the number of rows and columns of icons. Now it's a "one size fits all" and I think is against Android philosophy.
Some real problems I noticed:
Youtube videos crash frequently without poping up the FC's message. (this is very irritating!!)
TwitchTV audio is fine but video is in black. (this is very irritating too!!)
Coming back to home menu sometimes doesn't charge the wall paper, and you have to put it back again. (not a big bug)
Cool features:
Touch screen seems to be smoother.
Lifelog app, for thouse who like to track their lifes... (not my case)
Nothing else for the time being...
What have you noticed in the new 4.4.4 upgrade?
That's why I ask Does reseting or erasing data/factory is necessary?

Restart or erase data for what? If you have successfully updated and your only problem is SCR12 and Ultra Stamina you don't need to do anything more. You should only shutdown and turn tablet back on once to clean up memory after update.
Reflashing tablet is only important if you have some major issues, but even then I would wait for few days to see if it's only your problem or it's firmware issue and reflashing gives nothing.
My youtube work good, i ave some news laggy when open some app but by now no really important.
And the BIG ONE that affect to the readers with the tablet, brightness staggered spots on the edge of the screen in the lover brightness levels settings. ( starting the screen with lowered brightness levels after some time of automatic screen off ).
No one problem in the older version 4.4.2 of Android, just after the update...no hardware problem.
More exaclty:
When I tried an app to lower the brightness of those that allow placing the brightness below the officially established, when you lowered your brightness screen too with that application came out as black bars, well the defect to which I refer is the same but lower than those black bars.
But i try some time ago that app, actually i not ave any aplication to remove the brightness lower than.
And with respect....
