Xperia Z motherboard warped

Hi all.

I've been very happy happy user of Xperia Z for 1 year and 3 month. That phone was the first android device making me pleased to use it. Now I'm not sure who I'm supposed to blame for malfunction - Me , Vodafone Ireland or Sony design.

My phone doesn't connect to the network, so I can't make any calls or text messages but all other services work properly like WiFi, screen etc. Because my phone is still under warranty I returned it to authorised service for repair. Answer I received made me really disappointed - "unit beyond repair due to phisical damage. Board warped.". I got picture of motherboard attached showing marked place with a shadow of something like square shape printed in white foam as a proof it was my fault. My phone is still spotless now, there is no crack around only some scratches on included protector's surface so It's hard to understand how that could happen. Is that possible to warp board without cracking frame or body of the phone? What I'm supposed to do? My contract is still valid for next 7 months and Vodafone is not eager to help me, should I buy a new phone?

Does anyone experienced similar problem? Just looking for answer and wondering should I stay with Sony or choose another brand?

Please advise.

King Regards

Arcy

Without knowing the full facts ie: Seeing the phone then what I will say is how can the service people say this was your fault and based on what evidence - If they can't proove you did it then ask for a deadlock letter and say that you will get an independant engineers report and if prooved by this that you are not at fault then they have to pay you compensation for the report and replace your phone - Most companies try the blame game but won't go to the next level when challenged - I've fought eBay and Carphone Warehouse and won both times through simalar situations - Don't give in push for the deadlock letter clearly telling them what you plan to do when you have it

Thommo, you are great. I've used your advice and I've won. It wasn't easy and took a couple of months but it's done. It was more complicated as you described but finished successful anyway. Deadlock letter didn't help and Vodafone Ireland's never answered to me but because I live in Ireleand I sued company using Small Claim Court. It's my first time to do so and interesting experience I've got. It cost me 20 EUR to open a case and 3 months to get reply what is a check for 600 EUR from Vodafone Ireland. Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

I solved problem not even being forced to come out of my home, everything I had to do I could manage online.

Best of luck.
