I have a wireless network with a linksys router. I am unable to connect to the network with my x10 at all. The phone sees my network, the wep is correct and it say's it's obtaining an ip address but then it says unsuccessful and starts the whole process again - does anyone else have this problem.? My phone is on 02, i have spoken to them and they have no clue as to why it's happening!!
I don't think it is a problem with your laptop. Was just throwing that out there since mine exhibited similar activity. It probably just has to do with the way your laptop and OS are 'talking' to each other.
The wireless adapter is in your laptop or your phone; it's what they use to connect to your router.
WPA is more secure than WEP (I don't know what they stand for either). With WPA, you should be able to connect fine as I have been able to connect my phone to my gf's parents' router which uses WPA (again with manual settings). I believe it is just WPA2 with a specific type of security setting that the X10 is not compatible with. Hope this helps!
I had a similar issue, using a Linksys router using WPA key, i had R....16 and i noticed that when you have bad signal for 3G/GPRS/mobile signal the phone disconnects WIFI and 3G and tries to reconnect I lived with it as the network in my area is poor, but the recent Update R....20 they have fixed it and WIFI now works independantly...
well after racking my brains for totally ages decided to focus on my router as i had tried to connect to another wifi network ok (openzone in mcdonalds) turns out all i needed was to update the firmware on my router and now my x10 mini pro connects perfectly...so far...now my biggest moan is the lack of andriod 2.1 or 2.2!!
thanks to all who gave input etc t my query
go to setting>security & location> My location> turn off - use Wireless networks(establish your position using wireless network).
and try again... let me know if that works.
Somehow it works for me. Turn it on, it wont work again. Weird...
well i finally tried my last ditch attempt at a fix before returning the phone and buying a new router, updated the firmware on my router and bingo bango it works - just incase anyone asks its quite an old linksys WRT54GS orseomthing very similar, running orignally v5.1 firmware accorsing to the bottom of it and now updated to the most recent which means my x10 mini pro now connets to it without any problems at all.
sorry for the typo's a touch pished at the moment
Thanks for that, oddly enough thats what worked for me. I had a hidden network and I couldn't get X10 to connect and I tried turning off the location and bam connected right away.
