Software glitch? Unresponsive, keeps crashing.

My SP keeps becoming unresponsive, freezes from time to time. Could it be that I have too many apps running (45)? If so, how many apps should I aim to run? What else can be done to cut down on RAM usage? Thanks

It could be an app acting up, perhaps an antivirus or taskiller

Hi rw400,

You can always check the RAM amount within the apps section, this area lets you know if you are low on memory or not.

Menu > Settings > Apps > Running

If it is extremely low, then yes you can experience issues with performance, and the removal of apps would be the best option.

Let us know how you get on.

Jake, here is the sad truth about the Xperia SP. The phone on stock rom is a useless piece of crap. I have almost no apps installed and after only using it for 1 day the phone literally has 0mb free ram (which varies up and down to abou 30-40mb and back to 0), everything is freezing, glitching but no apps are running. Only basic sony/android processes (actually they are not running, but restarting nonstop)

Ram management is non existant. You updated the phone to this terrible rom and then abandoned it leaving every SP owner with an almost useless phone. The only solution is to keep restaring every time you actually use the phone because ram management is non existant. It seems to just disappear even though no apps are running.

I will never be buying another Sony phone. I currently use my SP as a hammer and only turn it on when I need to be entertained by how bad it is.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your useful suggestions. Having deleted some unused apps (now running 37apps), the problem seems to have improved a little. When checking RAM, I have about 100mb free with app processes running. I can't think of anything else to improve the situation.
