phonebook/contacts not working since update

My phonebook/contacts has stopped working, so I can't call or find numbers. All this since the update, everything else seems fine at the moment.

Settings-apps-all,look for contacts and phone app,force stop and clear data. Make sure to have a backup of your contacts.

Done it, didn't work

Also tried a repair, that didn't work. Next up is the wall, see if that helps, it's the only thing I've not tried ever since I've had the phone, it would have probably helped though with all the other problems with this rubbish phone.

I'm a bit confused, how do you mean that it does not work? What happens when you enter the phonebook, do you receive any error message?

Where is the contacts stored? Do you sync via Gmail or an Exchange account or is it local contacts? After the repair, did you restore any backup were your contacts was stored?

I hit contacts, I get phonebook in the top left bit the rest of the screen is blank then kicks me out? I can't ring out because I can't search anyone. I can text though, I can start typing someone's name in the recipient box and it will come up, if I click the 3 dots and select call, it goes back to the screen with phonebook in the top left and the rest of the screen is blank then kicks me out, then I just text message them instead. I'm having to get people to fo phone calls for me, not ideal.

Also if I click on the contacts icon, nothing, contacts top left with the rest of the screen blank then kicks me out.
