I'm sorry to say that after my stamina problem last week, I now face a new set of problems on my formerly beloved Z1 compact.
Got an update notice today so carried this out.
Now all my contacts are gone (still have them in my Google account) and can't make any calls!
When I try to make a call, by choosing the number on the keypad, the phone reboots.
Sigh....
Same problem in safe mode. Try to make a call and phone reboots.
Getting a new SIM at night is not possible where I live :smileysmileywink:
But I do find it odd that this problem occurs simultaneous with an update.
Try PCC and report back.

As I mentioned here http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1-Compact/Xperia-Z1-compact-turns-off-after-stamina-notice/td-... I'm a bit reluctant to do so, because of a lot of client messages I've got in Whatsapp...
But since I now own a very fancy fb messenger device I think I have no other option....
Hi Amfion
Based on what you have described I would agree with @uliwooly that a Software Repair is the best course of action. The will be ways of backing up the chat histories of Whatsapp if you are worried.
Ran the software repair and problems with call function and contacts are solved.
Managed to save most of my Whatsapp messages after two attempts by copying the Whatsapp folder to my sd card and then manually putting the files back in the internal memory after downloading but not opening Whatsapp. On the first attempt the app asked if I wanted to restore a backup from google drive when I first ran it, so there has to be a way to store a backup there. Read something about it somewhere, but seems not to be available for every user yet? Since I did'nt have this, it did see my group messages, but no individual chats. So I removed the app and followed the same steps again, when I opened it for the second try it asked to restore the found backup.
Oddly the last update couldn't be copied, so lost some but nothing vitally important.
Since I had some problems with battery/stamina first but was reluctant to do a software repair but now had to do it, I'm hoping to see an improvement there as well.
Thanks!
