So I just got Lollipop on my Z1C and had alot of expectations. Sadly it has more downsides for me at the moment.
The interface is pretty inconsistent and the white color ... oh my god I need to wear sunglasses now when operating on my phone. The autobrightness that had same flukes in Kitkat seems to be here as well (it's increasing the brightness when the background has white or any light colors in it and not based on the ambient light). Basically I can't use the phone during nighttime if I want to read something without disabling autobrightness or else my eyes bleed. Speaking about inconsistencies what is this Sony on the right the "thing" there was just slapped on in the last seconds? I bet is isn't hard to use same design you used to clear the dropdown notifications, something similar to what I "painted" on the left.
Next up some other inconsistencies. Though our phone can do 4K video recording (yes it can, it's not a hardware limitation ... just Sony limitation and I don't need to prove this you already know) I was happy we at least got 1080p@60FPS on Lollipop. Or did we? The screen below is from a video shot at 1080p@60FPS, or well at least that's what the camera app thinks so.
Oh yes that is 30FPS and I'm not the only one reporting this issue, XDA threads started to notice this too.
Next up some benchmarkings that I thought would at least be as good as Kitkat if not better. Well I guess I was wrong again. I ran the test 3 times to be sure and got similar results, nothing over 40k and that runtime ... well something is wrong there for sure.
I'm not trying to make a hate thread here since I stuck with Sony since my first smartphone but some stuff here kind of demonstrates someone is not doing his job right and for sure it isn't me.
Since 5.0.2 will probably be the last update for Z1C I'm dissapointed a bit but I also have nothing to worry about in the same time since the lovely devs and mods on XDA will do better. I do feel sorry for the average users though that doesn't tinker with his phone. They will just have to manage with this.
I am having the same issue as a lot of other people:
I never had any battery related problems under kit kat but I updated to lollipop the other day and now I am having a serious issue with my battery or at least the way the software is reading the battery.
My phone works fine and then it says battery empty and it shuts down. This can happen at 50% or 30% or 20%. It is completely unpredictable. I then plug it in for maybe 30 minutes and turn the phone back on and it says it is at 70 or 80%! This makes no sense and must be a software issue. Please Sony, answer us. It is clearly a poorly optimised update and you need to fix it.
The same issue with battery
90%-80% of charge and instantly go to 0% with power-off. I think the battery need to replace. Hardware problem with cheap components...
I would like to know if it's worth to wait the update. If it's ever coming. I contacted Finnish (bought from the finnish operator) and Irish support but Irish support were saying that it's unlikely that this could be repaired at their authorized service centre as the warranty is region based. Surely it is..warranty is valid in all the EEA countries. So support just give me a one more dark cloud to this episode.
So the change of battery has solved these issues? Anyone to give an opinion?
For people that have the battery drop bug, the only solution is to change the battery.
