Hi, when I use my phone as a hotspot my laptop cannot pick up the connection but other devices can like my old phone. How can I work around this? I'll be getting an ASDA smart phone at this rate
There might be compatibility issues for your laptop to use the network.Use connectify for your device,it might help.
Hi, where do I get connectify from? i looked on play store but all the wifi apps just use the phones hotspot app
Sorry,it seems connectify is not available for Android. My Z1 works as a hotstop and I can connect with my laptop.Have you done the correct settings?
Yeah all the settings are correct, I have used other makes of phones on hotspot no problem, I used another phone to connect to it and it worked fine but it doesn't even show up on my laptop unless I can get a connection app for my laptop. I'll get a bluetooth adapter and try it that way to see if it works
Strange,keep us updated.

I'm having this same problem. Other Android devices work with my Z3C's hotspot, but several laptops don't. They either can't see it at all, or can't connect if even if they can see it. The good news is the USB tethering works great with Windows 7 without having to install any software on your laptop. If you're running some other operating system I'm not sure what your options are. But wireless would be MUCH nicer.
This is a serious problem. I even did a factory reset and it still doesn't work with the Sony default hotspot settings. i've tried with WiFi on, WiFi off, the power saving disabled, the phone is up to date, etc. I guess it's time to contact Sony.
Either it's a firmware problem (most likely) or some weird hardware problem. I've fairly sure it's not my provider (T-Mobile) as I can pop the same SIM into a Google Nexus phone and the hotspot works flawlessly with everything.
Are others here using their Z3C as a hotspot with Windows 7 or Windows 8 laptops?
