HTC Desire is getting 2.2 on June 23.

Hey guys, I just read that HTC inofficially said that the Desire will get 2.2 on June 23 2010 (Yes right Sony Ericsson 2010 not 2011)

The Sense UI offers much more features than UXP will every have so plz SE stop fixing exploits that could bring us ROOT and concentrate on releasing 2.1 / 2.2 earlier.

BTW why did you chose android as OS? android is free and open source if you want to develop a phone as locked down as possible with nearly no control for the user use Windows Mobile or Symbian next time.

OH by the way now I really regret my descission in buying the X10 and all I can say, yes this is really my last SE product. Next time I will wait for Samsung and HTC. Especially Samsungs touchwiz interface offers more cool features than UXP and gets updated faster...

So all I do now is wait for the promised update and save money to get the Galaxy S. I really hope for SE their strategy will add up at the end but I don't think so. You don't have to be a genius to say

- Ignoring customers to long (finally I got an answer to one of my many many questions)

- delaying updates again and again without telling why

- locking down an open source OS so much that it is useless to real android users (I don't mean stu**d iPhone kiddies)

- not tell anything about known bugs, fixed bugs and changelogs (there are several different firmwares out and everyone I know debranded to R1FB001, lost his warranty and doesn't know what differences there are)

- promising lifetime update support, a lifetime Sony Ericsson defines. Could mean until 2013 could mean Q3 2011, who knows?

might not be as profitable as

- Talking to customers (not about every single step, but 1 blog entry per week especially when there are so many issues)

- delaying updates but telling why

- disabling root for the average (iPhone) user, but don't affront the whole android community

- telling which bugs are known and worked on. I still don't know if I will be able to connect to the WLAN on my university campus oder if I have to spend 25€ per month for an UMTS-Flat. Changelogs are good for the same reason

To gain the loyalty of your customers the second strategy could help a little bit more than the first one...

Well, this is the first SE phone I've bought in years and frankly, it'll be the last! They just seem to be getting everything wrong nowadays and really need to sort it out.

Because HZC learned a lot from it's Customers , they listen what the Customer is asking for. We all know that HTC was reading a lot @ XDA and got their Information for there. So now they adopt what they learned to their Products and give the User what he wants. SE will never able to do so. They need to work on their security to make the Life harder for us. I just wonder how many times the 2.1 update will be delayed i really doubt it ever will be released in this Year.

From what I can tell, Sony Ericsson doesn't give a damn about their customers. With the amount of crappy phones they release every year, they can just churn out the next Xperia (X20 I bet) with the latest Android and shaft the X10 user base.

I bet their product lineup is just that. They'll simply release a new Xperia with the new Android OS. Why would they give you free updates? They just want your money.

All I can say is "thanks SE" for giving me the rough end of the stick. I hope you guys realize the amount of damage you are causing to your once-beautiful company. You guys used to be the kings of mobile phones. Now, you are letting Apple and HTC have all the fun...

Poor poor SE.
