Flash Tool (Emma) flashing 5.1, not 4.4.4?

Hi.

I'm trying to downgrade to KK 4.4.4 since Sony broke my phone with the 5.1 update (GPS not working, etc.).

I've tried 3 times to flash to KK 4.4.4 using the latest Flash Tool (Emma), but it seems to keep flashing 5.1.

It *tells* me it's successfully flashed 4.4.4, but all I've got on my phone each time is 5.1. When it 'checks for and downloads the latest software version', is it automatically going for the 5.1 update, even though it still calls it 4.4.4?

Have you unlocked the bootloader?

Yes, I successfully unlocked it - I believe Emma will just refuse to do *anything* if the bootloader is locked.

I've just tried it for a fourth time (because I really can't understand what's going wrong). It says it's applying xperia m2 kk 4.4.4 (build 18.3.1.c.1.13), and seems to complete the process without any trouble, but when the phone boots up, it's still got 5.1.1 on it (build number 18.6.A.0.175).

Am I missing a process in the re-booting? I really can't understand it. I'm at the stage now where I'm thinking I'll just have to wait for a fix in 5.1 😞

You could use flashtool instead

I looked at that, but didn't seem to be able to find build 18.3.1.c.1.13 for it. I'm not confident/knowledgable enough to know whether it's OK to use another.
