Greetings all:
I am getting E-mail from Support stating that my phone has an available update. Starting PC Companion I go into an endless loop saying "The latest software from Sony is now available..." Problem is, I am running the latest software (23.4.A.1.200) for my region. Further issue is that the REPAIR function is no longer available on PC Companion because it's looping erroneous update messages.
Since I am having issues with Google Now -- and I KNOW y'all are going to recommend a repair - I need PC Companion working correctly.
What's the best course of action -- uninstall and reinstall PC Companion?
Many thanks
Uninstall > reinstall PCC
also, which Google Now issues are you experiencing? do you experience them on safe mode

Performed the uninstall and reinstall (program D/L from support website). Rebotted PC. PC Companion still tells me there is an update -- and there is NO UPDATE. Tried the OTA update from the phone and it confirms I am running the lastest version. STILL no repair button available. Mighty frustrating.
Google Now issue is that it will not recognize "OK Google" command. If I go to Settings and retrain the voice command, it will work for that session, but after the screen locks and I re-open the device, it no longer recognizes the command. I have Google Now set to detect voice from any screen. Tried Safe Mode -- same issue, so I can rule out any other software conflice.
Many thanks

No other recording applications are running. I rebooted phone just to make sure.

Part 1 of my issue completed. Uninstalled PC Companion. Cleared all temp files (I have autility that does this quickly). Rebooted PC. Re-installed PC Companion. Connected phone -- still said I have an update avaialble, so I ran the confounded update procedure only to find that it was staying at version 23.4.A.1.200...it was some other update...
Update and reboot of device successful.
Part 2: Google Now. Still having issues with Google Now and the "OK Google" command. Still unable to use the command from any screen, which is a real pain in the a$$, since that's the best part of the utility. No other software running..
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Any suggestions welcome.

So the only way to get my device working properly is to have it facory reset? This is the same as doing the PCC Repair -- lose all data and settings
I am at a loss on why since the August purchase date I have been instructed to commit data suicide on this device 4 times. My last handset had ONE factory reset in 3+ years. Please tell me that this is not the new Android paradigm
Is there no way to get Google applications to do a clean install on an app by app basis?
I am certainly willing to reset ...again...but what's the deal here? There has to be a better way of trouble shooting/repairing applications besides total wipe and rebuild.
Any other opinions before I pull the trigger?
What I would do first, is settings > apps > all > look for all google apps > clear data > restart the phone > check again, I wonder which app its causing this problem.
also settings > apps > all > smartconnect > clear data.
