entering dialing code

hey,

i would first like to notice that my new Xperia also suffers from the camera freezes thats also being discussed in a topic on this forum. i hope that sony comes with apropiate actions...

but my question is the following. As a volunteer fire fighter we have a system that requires us to call and put in a series of numbers for changing our status in the system thats decides wether we are called in for an emergency or not.

we first dial a number, then enter a code, and then select a few options with the numbers. A few collegues said to me that there is a fast way of dialing in, it requires to put a code as phonenumber in the contacts.

after the phonenumer, they say you must put in a 'P' , then our personal code followed by a '#'

the problem is with this ' P '   , i cant seem to put it in ? is this possible with my xperia z1 compact, and if it is, how do i do so ?

thnx,

M

Could it be that the person who is telling you to input 'P' has an iPhone?

The P is not the universal DTMF code for Pause, that's the comma ','.

In the dialer, you can input a comma by holding the star.

When you program a number for a contact, you can press the key with *#( to access the DTMF codes.

Here you will see Pause (comma) and Wait (semi-colon).

I think Wait (for connection) is the actual command you are looking for.

hey,

i don't know if he has an iphone, but i just tried the option you mentioned.  when i entered what you suggested, he asked me to send the code. i then tried the comma, and now he works ! 🙂  thnx.

i did have to put the contact in the phone, not the sim, if i put it in the sim after one dial the code was gone...

what is the code  'N'    for anyway ?

Looks like I made the wrong assumption about Wait.

It is the command to wait for user input, not wait for connection.

So anything after the semi-colon is simply discarded.

I tried to find the meaning of N, but I couldn't find it.

Is there any functionality that you are looking for to interact with an IVR (Interactive Voice Response)?
