I have a problem with my Xperia E4G phone, it sometimes hangs, then display goes off, and after a while it is restarted automatically - rebooted. First time, this occured immediately after couple of seconds during first setup of system in wizard - after first boot. So no user app installed, nothing changed yet. Then it happend 2x next day. For another 2 days it was working properly and then it happend again - freeze, display off, restart. It occurs randomly and obviously it is not app related.
Has somebody the same experience? Is it bad phone - HW problem? Or is it related to some preinstalled SW or system itself? I read similar complaints of some users on some eshop forums, so it seems to be not so rare issue.
Should I send it back to seller or is it known issue and some SW update is planned?

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

I have did a phone repair via PC Companion and will see if it helps (in following hours/days). Hopefully yes.
I am a bit sceptical, because the first freezing occured just couple of seconds after first boot, when phone was just unboxed and powered up and nothing was changed or installed yet.

unfortunately it is the same, phone has frozen today again 
It is HW problem or bug in SW. I have noticed that new update has been released, 25.0.A.2.14.
But PC companion still says that my phone is up to date. I hope it will be available soon and the update will fix this issue.
Do you have any task killers, antiviruses, cache cleaners, or battery managers installed? I suggest that you get rid of them.
Also try to boot your phone into safe mode and see if it still have the same issue:
No, I dont have any task killer or antivirus. As I have already mentioned, first time it happend immediately after unboxing and powering up the phone. So nothing was installed or changed in configuration - so I think that safe mode will be the same as factory reset device, right? Anyway, it is a bit complicated to test it in safe mode, because the freezing occurs randomly, 2x per day or it can work properly for 2 days with no problem.
Is there any difference between safe mode and phone after factory reset?
Is there please any change log regarding latest update 25.0.A.2.14?
I just would like to know if it is known problem - SW problem and it already is or could be fixed or if it is HW problem.
(in forums of some eshops you can find another users reporting the same problem. And also Balz above confirmed this)
Safe mode will boot your phone with only Sony native apps active so it eliminates 3rd party apps effect on system.
