my touch screen has stopped working so I need to back everything up as sony wipes all data before repairing, due to data protection. I've managed to get my phone to talk to sony bridge but when i attempt back up of my contacts using the 'contacts setup' it tells me that this no longer works and to use 'xperia transfer'. So I've attempted this and am told that my divice is not compatible and I should use 'contacts setup'. Currently going round in circles and getting frustrated, can anyone help??
Hi @cat1,
I'm sorry to hear this.
What if you try to make a backup directly in Bridge for Mac using the backup feature instead of Contacts Setup/Xperia Transfer? Xperia Transfer is meant to be used to transfer data directly between two phones.
Hi Chris, that option is not available in the menu
Do you happen to have a PIN or patter lock for your display? In that case you will most likely have to unlock it before you can access and backup any data in the phone. You can use an USB OTG cable to connect a normal USB PC mouse to your phone and then use it to unlock the screen. After doing this you should be able to access and backup the data in the phone, as long as it powers on, if you connect it to a PC/Mac.
