Auto Home Wifi Connection

Got home and phone didn't auto connect to my wifi wireless hub like it normally does.

I checked the list of wifi connections and my home Wifi showed out of range, I then checked Google maps and noticed that it wasn't showing where I currently am, so wondered if it was this that stopped it from connecting.

I eventually had to switch the phone completely off, then when it came back on it let me connect after entering my password.

Any ideas why I needed to do this?

@cobbler

Do you have the GPS on? settings > location > how accurate is it?

@uliwooly

I use the battery saving option which uses Wifi and Mobile Networks which normally gives correct location.

Even when I tried GPS I still had to switch the phone off to enable the hub to connect.

@cobbler

Disable any battery saving app/service > boot on safe mode > test again

if that doesn't work then

test with high accuracy

I don't have a battery saving app, this is built into the phone which is one of three options in location settings.

Using GPS constantly uses more battery power.

@cobbler

Indeed it will use more battery but if the phone can't pin point your location it can't auto connect to your home wifi unless the wifi its always on which will drain even more battery than GPS

My Wifi is always on though.

Plus this occurs intermittently and works normally most of the time, therefore I am curious why there is this occasional issue.

@cobbler

It could be an app acting up every now and then

Could be I suppose.
