NWZ-A17 Walkman, Bluetooth Control Volume Problem

Hi

Bought a NWZ-A17 Walkman, it connects to my two different bluetooth speakers and plays music fine, but it not able to control the volume through bluetooth, i can only adjust it manually on the speakers, which defeats the purpose of BT.

Thanks

Yep, same problem with my Beoplay S3 speakers .Every other device(s) that are paired the volume can be controlled via the volume switch . Maybe it's a "Sony Fit " feature to keep the user getting up and walking over to the speakers..... Shame the A17 is very good product otherwise.

Beoplay = B&O. Trust me it's not the speakers as they work with every other Bluetooth device

I could say the same for the walkman lol

Joke put aside, it's obviously a bluetooth protocal issue between the two.

I think it's actually an issue from your speaker AND the walkman.  The bluetooth module (hardware) from the speaker must not be up to date of the walkman and some basic features from an older bluetooth version has been removed from the walkman after latest update so walkman can only hold audio connection (play/pause..) with your speaker. Your speaker having an older version can't undertsand the new flag for controlling the volume, and player doesn't have older flag version to make it understandable for your speaker

It's exactly like when you can control the master volume of the player from the player or speaker but paired with an other speaker, volume of the player+ speaker are totally independant. Bluetooth protocol are set differently from one manufacturer to an other but only one thing is a required, it's streaming backward compatibilly with older devices.

For more help here, you will need to give your speaker ref and the bluetooth version it carries so investigation from Sony can start. 😃
