Connecting Bomaker 2.1 CH soundbar to Sony Bravia TV

Can anyone help me connect my Bomaker 2.2 CH soundbar and wireless sub using an optical cable please. My Sony TV Bravia Model is KD-65AF9 and is connected to a Humax freesat box. I have powered the soundbar and sub and connected both by BT. The optical cable runs from the soundbar to the back of the TV but no sound. Not sure what to do now. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks

The optical cable should be in the TV, the Humax box should be in any HDMI port except the ARC one (usually, HDMI 3).

If that doesn't work, try unplugging and disconnecting everything for a few minutes then try hooking them up again.

Do you have the sound system active? (under Settings - Display & Sound - Speakers - Audio System)

I had it on TV speakers but have switched it to audio system now and the
sound has cut out from the TV. The optical cable is in the back of the TV.
Should this be in the Humax box?

Joe_Dohn, thanks for explanation. Talking of audio stuff and especially about sound bars, you can always see more here on the website, which was created for such purposes, where you can compare different models of hardware, and look for different soundbars as well. I like their articles, they do help a lot.
