Vaio Update with MessageID=0008 (model not found on server)
Hello
I bought a Vaio VGN-FE41S with Windows Vista preinstalled about two months ago (German version). Up to now I didn't manage to get to run the Vaio Update functionality correctly (automatic update). There is always an error message (messageid=0008) telling me that the information about my model could not be found on the server and I should repeat the update-process later. Meanwhile I upgraded manually to Vaio Update 3.0.00.13220a (a newer one is not available at the moment) but the message persists. Is this message an error? If yes, does anyone of you have a solution?
Thanks for help
Victor

Yes, I can confirm the above.
If you change the locale settings to English (any English) the Vaio Update service starts up automatically (after restert).
Good job Julien74 and Sony Support Team.
I am again a proud Sony Vaio user.

Great, it also works for me! But I'm wondering what the impact on the system will be by changing this setting. Does this mean I will receive English response buttons in standard Windows dialog boxes while the language in the box itself will be Dutch etc...?

Please correct me someone if I am wrong, but I believe that now everytime when your system has to display a winodws message (like OK, cancel ...) then it will always first chose the English version. Also when you instal programs etc. it will always chose English to dispay the language.

You should set the language to the original language of the installed Windows.
Have you tried English already? Don't forget to restart your Vaio after changing.
Do you always got the same message (MessageID=0008) ?
