Upgrade your Vaio to Vista but expect problems

If you upgrade your Sony Vaio to Windows Vista then expect certain issues that dont seem to be resolved.

Problem One:
Firstly the backlight control ( Brightness ) does not work, if you're lucky then the Sony Vaio Vista drivers may get you the FN Volume controls working with the On Screen Display but the backlight control will not work.

Tried on VGN-S2XP, VGN-S3XP and VGN-S4XP but there seems to be no way the backlight control will work.

Problem Two:
Task Manager shows high CPU under Taskeng.exe, this causes laptop to pause every few seconds. Try it yourself, draw circles with your mouse and if it you see it freeze every few seconds then you need to delete TMM from task schedule. Transient Multimon Manager (TMM) is a Microsoft Windows Vista operating system feature targeted at improving the user experience of connecting and disconnecting displays, particularly for the mobile user.

To Delete TMM
Click Start
Type Task Schedule into Search
Double Click Task Schedule from the list
Select TMM from active list
Select Trigger Page and then click properties
Highlight the enabled trigger and click edit
On the edit page un tick enabled

System should now run smoothly and not jerky anymore.
