replace DVD-rw

Hi, i got a PCG-K315M for over 6 months now, and yes indeed, my dvd writer starts playing up,refusing dvds,cd's etc.. a fault well known to other vaio users. I would like to buy a new dvd-writer. Is it possible to install this thing myself and how do I get the old one out? Or do i have to take it to the shop?

There were a few in the states which sold laptop DVD drives, not sure of UK internet addresses
