I just purchased a viao cs series notebook and am pretty happy with it. One problem that is really annoying me is that I can’t seem to record from my soundcard like I did before on my old hp laptop (vista). I read around some forums that some Sony laptops don’t let you do this, and I was just wondering if any of you guys know if this is true? The first time I used this feature was when I used Sony sound forge in college so it doesn’t make sense that Sony won’t let you do this.
If anybody knows how to do this I would really appreciate it.
FYI, I have a Realtek High Definition sound card on a Sony Viao VGN-CS11S
Hi scrunchydude and welcome to Club Vaio.
Unfortunately Sony have permanently disabled this (Stereo-Mix) feature on ALL Vaios sold with Vista installed.
We have never been given a reason but I presume it is some misguided attempt to reduce piracy.
I don't think there is an answer apart from an external soundcard. You could connect the headphone output to the Mic input - but the quality will not be great.
Sorry.
Thanks for replying. Its too bad it was disabled, it was something i used alot (one thing you wouldnt check when buying a new laptop)
Maybe this will help?

I also use Totalrecorder with no problem.
