Problem with the sound device

I have a Sony SZ61WN and for some reason the sound device is not working. I have l looked around and the problems seems to be the windows audio endpoint builder, which does not start and gives an error. Can anyone help or explain how to resolve this.Thanks

There is a Registry Fix that seems to work: -

Try going into regedit, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Audiosrv
and in the DependOnService remove all entries except RpcSs and then restart your computer

I have no personal experience of this problem so any action is at your own risk!!!!
