this player is the business by the way.
a couple of questions tho
i have around 3000 mp3's on my pc that im thinking about converting
to atrac3 or atrac3 plus
1. would this be wise?
2. would this save any space on the hdd?
3. how would i go about this task?
your comments would be most welcome.

LOL Seb very to the point!! hehe
IMO it depends....
What bitrate are your MP3's in? if they are in 128kbps I wouldn't bother, as the sound is already compressed too much to do anything more with it, 320kbps plus though should be ok, as there is more data for SS to work with when converting.
Saving space?? Well that again depends on how good you want it to sound! 132kbps Atrac3 is as low as I go but there is a 64kbps Atrac3plus format which will save you loads of space, I recon 30-40%
less in actual memory.
To convert formats you simply right click on a track, or hold down Ctrl and click as many as you want, then right click, select 'convert format...' and pick the bitrate you want.
Hope this helps

thanks for the info guys, i think i'll just leave them the way they are.
You need Sonicstage for your VaioPocket. SonicStage isn't bad, but not more.
A couple more tips, 256kbps Atrac3plus sounds brilliant!!, I have used it for all my real top 10 favorite albums, Oh and get a better set of headphones too, the supplied ones are worth about a tenner I recon'!

i'm getting new headphone soon, turbosound ones.
i'll give atrac a try at that setting you suggested. thanks
I use these MDR-EX71L
A little odd at first, but the bass these beautys kick out is superb, they sound a lot more open and you will get a bit of extra volume too!!

those turbosound one are supposed to be real good, a fathers day present so i'll have to keep them a bit:smileywink:
