HDMI Connection towards PS3

I have a Sony Vaio 17" AR series with HDMI (OUT)

I have tried to connect my PS3 to my Vaio, however this has failed to work.

Is the HDMI connection on the Vaio an (OUT) only?

Is there a method of setting up the Vaio to act as a dumb terminal?

Would appreciate your advice.

Yes, the HDMI is only an output, so you can watch HD material on your TV
