Function (Fn) Volume Buttons (F2, F3 & F4) Do Not Work On VGN-SZ3HP/B

Hello People,

I've recently had to re-install my laptop due to a virus back to vista. When I bought the laptop, it was on XP and I got a free upgrade to vista.

However, having done the re-install, I cannot use the the function buttons (Fn) for the volume which is really anoying. I just cannot control the volume, the volume appears on the screen but nothing else happens.

Anyone else had this problem?

Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi homersgreat and welcome.

I'm not clear if you are running XP or Vista?

Assuming you have Vista installed you need to install the Utilities provided when you upgraded to Vista. You can download all of these Vista Drivers and all these Vista Utilities for your model here: -

To fix the Fn Keys you need to install in strict order: -

1. Sony Utils DLL -7.0.00.11210
2. Sony Shared Library -3.0.00.10180
3. VAIO Event Service -3.0.00.13110
4. Setting Utility Series -2.0.00.11270

You may find some of the other utilities useful also and these can be installed AFTER the 4 above.

If you are using XP then you will need the Original XP Drivers Package and the Original XP Utilities Package. If so come back here and we can point you to them.
