format issue

hey there, wondering if you guys can help me out, i bought a 500gd hard drive few months back and put windows vista on it, but found out the hard way that vista is crap lol and i formatted the hard drive and now i cant get the recovery disc or any other xp disc toinstall on it

Is this an internal or an external drive? What model Vaio do you have?

Microsoft will not allow you to install an Operating System onto an external drive.
