Instead of an "excellent" quality displayed by the wireless connection, I hardly reach a speed of 256 kbps on internet, when my ADSL connection throught a LINKSYS ADSL Gateway is Mbps, even when my notebook is located at 20 cm of the gateway antenna.
Furthermore, It was impossible to install the network printers on this notebook throught the wireless connection.
After many tries, I decided to install a 54 Mbps wireless PC card and turn off the internal wireless componant. It works fine and I obtained a good speed of 2Mbps.
May I conclude that the built-in solution proposed by Sony does not work properly ?

No problems with wireless - it worked straight out of the box
However the S3HP gets very hot in use - just to the right of the touch pad - in both mains and battery use.
I can hear the fan working - and feel the output - this does not seem to be the battery but the processor - is this normal and/or is there a way to reduce the heat output?
many thanks,
Dave W
Yes it's normal. Some Sony machines do tend to run a little hot.
You can download CPU temperature monitors from the web to keep an eye on things. Also, make sure the fans haven't built up a layer of dust as this can affect the cooling.
many thanks for your prompt reply - I've only had it 2 weeks so should not be full of dust yet!
I guess I just live with it!
thanks again
