PS3 1080p setting won't work on my FullHD tv

I bought a new Sony Bravia KDL46EX5 FullHD tv and tried to set my display options for ps3 to 1080p, but it just wont work. I read the instruction manual thoroughly and it clearly says 1080p (input) is supported. I tried switching ports, cables, shuffling settings around, but nothing seems to be working. The tv displays 1080i just fine, but howcome 1080p wont work?

I've done everithing, but in the end I called the Sony customer service and told me to swich HDMI cables and try again... I complained about how I already tried and it wouldn't work so I decided to borrow my friends cable and see how that goes... Worst part is that i actually worked... So basically I was rolling with 2 broke HDMI cords... God I should've thought of that first, buut thanks for ur help anyway!
