50W829B media player problems

Hi!

I only played 4 movies with my TV and already experienced 2 problems.

In one MKV movie the dialogs (speech) disappeared after a while. I could hear sorroud sounds and when people speaked in the back, but not in the front. Restarting the playback fixed the problem... for a while, thne it came back.

The movie plays without problems on a PC (with VLC player).

The other MP4 stopped in the middle with a message like "Can not playback..." (will report exact message when I see it again). If I restart the movie and use fast-forward to skip the point where it stopped, then it plays normally... until the next point where it stops.

This file also play with no problem on PC.

I upgraded the TV firmware last week.

Please advise.

David

PS: Firmware version is PKG2.263EUA

Hi there

Are you streaming the movies wirelessly?  If so, see what happens when you connect a network cable instead (and stream via a wired).

Also, do the files fully conform to the codec specifications : HERE

To check to see which codecs are in use for the files, install mediainfo : HERE

Cheers

They were all on a USB stick that was plugged into the TV.
I'll check the codecs later.

I've seen other people reporting that 384Kbps in the audio encoding it's non handled by the tv, may you try converting it at a lower rate?

It is not my job to test the TV, but Sony engineers. After all I pay them for that. But that might change.

I see half of threads here are about this model not playing video or even crashing.

I will return it and take my money back.

Hi there

No one suggested that you "test the TV".  It was merely suggested that you try lowering the audio bitrate of the file itself.  But doesnt matter, you've returned your TV.

You are right about one thing, there is an un-resolved issue with the TVs media player - which has been reported.

Cheers

Trying new things on the TV until it works, what is it then if not "testing"?

Also lowering the bitrate is not like turning a *****. I must find appropriate software, learn to use it etc...

I paid for the TV to use it, not to debug it.

(I haven't returned yet, as: it was sunday yesterday, and: I have more important things to do right now, like earning the mentioned money)

PS: k-n-o-b is censored? Dial, tuner, linear input...

Increasing probability of success ?

I understand where your coming from though.  Unfortunately there is no definative solution at this stage.

And yes, sometimes the language filter is unpredicable.  I belive its defined via a keyword dictionary.  But as we know, the same word can be used in many ways.
