Can't install my Xperia on Xperia S - Is the model too old for the program?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone with an Xperia S has been able to install and activate my Xperia?

This is the program that helps you find the phone and protects private information by locking the device or even deleting all information on the device. I have registered to use it on this site https://myxperia.sonymobile.com

After following instructions to activate my Xperia by going to: Settings > About phone > Software update > New apps > my Xperia. I have found the option to download my Xperia does not exist on my phone.

Under New apps I can see Xperia Lounge, but not my Xperia.

Perhaps this model is too old for the program, but if anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated.

Cheers

My Xperia needs to be downloaded from Settings -> About phone -> Software updates but depending on country/operator i'm afraid it's not certain you have this app.

There's a similar function available from Google which you could perhaps use instead in case My Xperia is not available in your phone: https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager

@Sasha001

My Xperia is not a downloadable app, it is found as an option in compatible phones to activate under Settings -> Security, then you'll recieve an email on the Google account you're using on your phone.

In case you can't find your mobile, you'll go to https://myxperia.sonymobile.com/signin and use the same Google email and you'll be able to locate the device if it's connected to internet.

No, I don't think it's not compatible.

Thanks for your reply Quester.

I think compatibility may be the problem. When I couldn't find in Settings > Security I read on the Sony site to

  1. Install the my Xperia application on your device. Settings > About phone > Software update > New apps > my Xperia and tap the install icon.
  2. Activate my Xperia on your device. Find and tap Settings > Security > my Xperia

I think if I can't find it in any of these places then my model is not likely configured for it.

@Sasha001

Try to find it in Settings -> Xperia

Thanks Phy.

It's a good idea, though I can see it's a download available on mediafire and not directly from Sony, which makes me a little cautious.

I'm thinking to write to Sony to see if it can be downloaded from them. If that's possible I will update here.

@Quester

Unfortunately it's not in Settings > Xperia either. I don't know if I have ever downloaded it, it's not showing in my list of apps.  Will see if Sony can provide a download.
