Select the symptom of your device and follow the steps to resolve the issue. Check your device manual for model-specific information.

No sound from the Sound bar/Home theater system or Home audio system

  1. While your TV and audio device is off, verify that the cables between the TV and Audio device are securely connected as shown in the diagram below:
    • When the TV has an HDMI (ARC) label on the HDMI jack (HDMI IN)
      1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI IN (ARC) jack on the TV.
      2. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT jack on the Audio device.

    • When the TV has no HDMI ARC label on the HDMI jack
      1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to any HDMI IN jack on the TV.
      2. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT audio device.
      3. Connect an optical audio cable from the TV's optical digital audio out to the OPTICAL IN on your audio device. If you can't connect with Optical Digital cable, use an Audio Analog cable instead.

        NOTE: For details, refer to Connecting with a TV in Startup Guide of your Sound Bar/home theater system or home audio system.

  2. Turn on the TV, then your audio device.
  3. Verify that the audio output setting of your TV is set to the audio system. Check your TV manual for more details.
  4. Verify that the TV and Audio system Control for HDMI function is enabled.

    NOTE: Set the Control for HDMI (BRAVIA Sync) of the TV and Sound bar to ON.

  5. Verify that the Sound Bar is set to TV input.
    Ex.: HT-Z9F/X9000F
    Press the TV button of the Sound bar remote to switch it to the TV screen.

The Sound Bar volume is low 

There are designated buttons on the Sound Bar remote that will assist you in quickly and easily making these adjustments.

  1. Change the VOICE mode settings to 2.
    1. To change the VOICE setting, press the VOICE button on the remote until you see the UP 2 setting on the display of the sound bar.
    2. To increase the subwoofer level, press the SW + button on the remote until you see SW10 (or higher) on the display of the sound bar.
  2. Increase the subwoofer level to 10 or higher.
  3. Check if the Night Mode is set to ON. Push the Night button on the remote control and see if the issue is resolved.

No sound is output from the wireless subwoofer or Surround speaker

Check the following steps.

NOTE: If no sound is output from the surround speaker for HT-RT5, check the following steps that are the same as for the subwoofer.
 

  1. Verify that the subwoofer is turned on.
  2. Press + of the SW (subwoofer volume) button on the remote control to turn up the volume of the subwoofer.
  3. Check the status of the subwoofer LED indicator.
     
    • When the LED lights up in red after turning on the audio device.
      The link between the unit and the subwoofer may not be complete. Set the link settings again.
       
      • HT-CT780/CT380/NT5/CT790/CT800
        Perform Linking the system (Link to the subwoofer) as described in Other Functions in the manual.
         
      • HT-ST9/RT5/NT3/CT390/ST5000/MT300/MT500/CT290/CT291/X9000F/XF9000
        Set Secure Link under Further Setting for the Wireless System (Subwoofer) as described in Other Functions in the manual.
      • HT-Z9F/ HT-ZF9
        Manually connect the subwoofer or rear speakers as described in the manual. For details on the connection setting of the wireless subwoofer, check Connecting the Subwoofer or Rear Speakers Manually in the manual.

    • When the LED flashes (slowly) in green or orange and lights up in red after 10 seconds, move the subwoofer closer to the Sound Bar/home theater system.
      Place the subwoofer where there are no obstacles, such as furniture, walls, or metal objects, directly between the unit and subwoofer.

      NOTE: The LED may flash slowly in green or orange for more than 10 seconds.

  4. Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) of the subwoofer, and reconnect it after one minute.

  5. If the problem is still not resolved, reset the device as follows:

    • HT-ST9/RT5/NT3/XT3
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Setup.
      3. Select Resetting.
      4. Select Reset to Factory Default Settings.
      5. Select All Settings.
      6. Select Start.
         
    • HT-CT780/380
      1. Press the MENU button.
      2. Select SYSTEM.
      3. Select SYS.RST.
      4. When START appears on the display of the Sound bar, press ENTER.
      5. When RESET disappears, disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead), then plug it back in.
  6. Set Linking the system or SECURE LINK again after performing Easy setup.

The wireless subwoofer volume is low

Check the following steps:

  1. To turn up the volume from the subwoofer, press + of the SW volume button on the remote control to turn up the volume of the subwoofer.
  2. When Night mode is set to ON, set it to OFF.
    For details of the Night mode, refer to the manual supplied with the product.

NOTE: The subwoofer is a speaker for playing bass sound. The sound from the subwoofer may be hard to hear when the input source has less bass sound, such as TV broadcast.
